In 1979 with the folding of the Northstar Drum Corps The Cadets of Dutch Boy were re-branded to the Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle Corps. This unit was now the primary focus of the Northstar Youth Organization. The Bavarian uniforms were replaced with red tunics, Forest green pants and Black Felt hats. It was designed to recognize the evolving maturity of the Corps membership while maintaining the corps colours of forest green, red and white. Dutch Boy was now on the road towards greater things ahead.

Season Highlights:
They won the Great Lakes Championship in Windsor, and the Ontario Provincial Drum Corps Championships. They were finalists in both the U.S. Open and the American International Drum Corps Championships.
